As for the schedule, KCTV usually runs from 3:00 PM to 10:30 PM on weekdays. On Sundays and major national holidays, they start much earlier, typically around 9:00 AM. You can catch the daily news at 5:00 PM, 8:00 PM, and 10:30 PM.
Domestic movies on KCTV are usually produced by the Korean Film Studio and focus heavily on history, revolution, and patriotism. Classic films like The Flower Girl (1972) and Sea of Blood (1968) are treated as more than just entertainment; they are considered vital cultural milestones. The channel has even aired monster movies like Pulgasari (1985) and historical action films like Hong Kil Dong. What all these films have in common is a mix of artistic storytelling and a strong emphasis on sacrificing for the community and staying loyal to the nation.
Features of children's programming and animation
For younger viewers, KCTV usually airs children's shows right after the 5:00 PM news, with animations being the main highlight. Series like Squirrel and Hedgehog are very popular, but unlike many Western cartoons, they often include military themes. Another famous one is The Boy General, a historical action series set in the Goguryeo era that celebrates bravery and traditional martial arts.
