Cafe Music BGM channel is a digital music channel on YouTube that plays original cafe-style background music, mostly jazz and bossa nova. Press play on the official page, or find the same releases on Spotify and Apple Music.
What Cafe Music BGM channel plays
The group was formed in 2013 under BGMC Records and works out of Japan. This is not a satellite or cable TV channel. Think of a music channel made for the background of your day.
The core lineup is a pianist, guitarist, bassist and drummer. A saxophonist, trumpeter or vocalist joins when a track needs more color. Most of the catalog is original music that the members write, play and record themselves. Styles run through jazz instrumental, bossa nova, piano, acoustic guitar and ambient. Official videos include "Morning Pause," "Cobblestone Alley" and "Listen," plus long videos built around morning coffee and fireplace cafes.
One thing to watch for. BGM channel is a separate artist under the same label, with its own pages and links, so keep the two apart when you search.
Who this music suits
The sound is made for remote work, studying, reading, coffee breaks and winding down. It sits behind what you are doing instead of demanding attention.
The channel passed 2 million YouTube subscribers in March 2020, according to its own anniversary video. Titles and descriptions come in English, which helps listeners outside Japan. Businesses are covered too. Cafes, restaurants, shops, hospitals, offices and events can license background music through BGMC Station.
Where and how to listen
The official YouTube channel is the hub for music videos, playlists and nonstop listening. Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music suit longer audio sessions. Availability of single tracks can vary by country and platform.
Listening is the easy part. Using the music in your own commercial video is different, because that does not come automatically. BGMC runs BGMC Library for that exact purpose, under the name "Music for Videos."
Sound and picture will feel different on every setup, so one playlist is the quickest test.
Worth saving for later?
