History and Launch of AL24 News
AL24 News officially launched on November 1, 2021, broadcasting from the capital Algiers via Nilesat satellite. The channel was initiated by Information Minister Ammar Belhimer as part of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s plan to boost Algeria’s soft power globally.
The channel's inauguration took place on October 30, 2021, coinciding with the 67th anniversary of Algeria’s independence revolution. Initially led by journalist and filmmaker Salim Aggar, the leadership transitioned to Hichem Melaksou in November 2024.
In December 2023, AL24 News signed a cooperation agreement with Russia’s RT Arabic channel, aiming to strengthen media exchange and joint broadcasting efforts.

AL24 News broadcasts 24/7, covering a wide range of topics with a focus on international news while also reporting on domestic Algerian affairs. Programming includes:
