ZBC TV is Zimbabwe’s only free-to-air national television channel, owned by the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC). It officially began broadcasting in 1980, with a mission to connect communities through news, education, entertainment, and cultural programs.

Television in Zimbabwe started in 1960 under the name Rhodesian Television (RTV). After several changes and mergers, the channel became ZBC TV following the country’s independence in 1980, reflecting a shift toward national identity and cultural diversity. ZBC TV first broadcast in black and white and switched to color transmission in 1982.

ZBC TV’s programming includes local and international news, entertainment, sports, movies, music, and cultural and educational shows that highlight the life, history, and traditions of Zimbabwe. The channel broadcasts in three languages—English, Shona, and Ndebele—serving audiences across the country as well as viewers abroad who are interested in Zimbabwe.
