Top Channel is one of Albania’s leading commercial television networks, based in Tirana. Founded in 2001 by Dritan Hoxha, it serves as a key part of the Top Media Group, which also operates various radio stations and newspapers across the country.
Technologically, the channel has always been a pioneer. It secured nationwide coverage in January 2008, introduced HD broadcasting to Albania in 2009, and fully transitioned to high definition by 2012. Today, viewers can watch its 1080p feed via satellite, cable, and IPTV platforms.
Top Channel’s reach extends well beyond Albania’s borders. Since 2003, it has broadcast across Europe through DigitAlb and into North America via TVALB and Shqip TV, becoming a vital link for the Albanian diaspora worldwide.
Its programming offers a strong mix of news and entertainment. The lineup includes the trusted news bulletin "Edicioni Informativ" and the investigative show "Fiks Fare," alongside popular reality hits like "Big Brother Albania," "MasterChef Albania," and the long-running music competition "Top Fest," which started in 2004.
Despite its success, the channel has faced serious challenges. In March 2023, its headquarters was attacked with an AK-47, resulting in the tragic death of a security guard—an incident that sparked widespread concern over media safety in the region.
