Sky Sports 3 is the old name of a pay TV sports channel in the UK and Ireland. Searching for that name today leads to the wider Sky Sports lineup, which you can watch live through a Sky or NOW subscription.
Where the Sky Sports 3 name comes from
Sky Sports 3 launched on 16 August 1996 and carried Football League and Scottish football early on. Sky had new sports rights to place, and spreading events across more channels beat cramming everything into one. Sky Digital arrived in 1998 and widened the lineup further.
Later years brought renaming and splits by sport. Today the brand is a set of nine dedicated channels running 24/7 plus Sky Sports+ streams, so a single channel called Sky Sports 3 is no longer the thing to look for.
What you can watch across Sky Sports
The range is wide. Football covers the Premier League, EFL, WSL and Scottish Premiership. Beyond that you get Formula 1, England's home cricket, golf majors, tennis, rugby union and league, boxing, darts, netball and NFL.
Live games sit alongside news, scores, interviews and analysis before and after matches. Sky Sports+ adds extra EFL, Rugby Super League and tennis for events the main channels cannot show at the same time. That add-on needs Sky Sports Complete.
Who this suits
The lineup is built for sports fans in the UK and Ireland, especially people who follow English football and want live matches on a schedule. Followers of F1, cricket, golf and tennis are covered too, and so are fans of NFL, darts, boxing and rugby. Subscribers who like scores, transfer news and match analysis in the same place will find plenty here.
How to watch Sky Sports online and on TV
In the UK, Sky Sports comes through Sky TV packages, Sky Stream and Sky Glass, with Sky Go for phones. Smart TVs, computers, consoles and tablets are supported as well. Price and contract length depend on the package.
In Ireland, NOW Sports Membership covers the Sky Sports channels and Sky Sports+, with day, month, flexible or minimum-term options. The official Sky Sports schedule shows which channel carries each event.
Rights depend on your country, package and device. Some events, such as Box Office, are bought separately. Prices change over time, so check the official sign-up page before you commit. Stream quality will feel different from one viewer to the next, so a quick try is the best test.
