Sandesh News is a 24x7 Gujarati news channel from Ahmedabad, and you can watch it on DD Free Dish, Airtel Digital TV, the Sandesh website or the mobile app. No pay-TV plan is needed if you have a Free Dish setup.
What sandesh news covers
The channel launched on 24 October 2013 as an extension of the Sandesh newspaper, a Gujarati daily more than 100 years old. The Sandesh Limited, the listed company behind the paper, also runs the TV channel. That newspaper background shows in the lineup: politics, business, sports, entertainment, city news, plus national and international stories, all in Gujarati.
The focus stays on Gujarat. Breaking updates, analysis and local stories lead the schedule.
Who the channel is for
Gujarati speakers in Gujarat are the main audience, especially anyone who follows local politics, business and sport. Gujarati communities abroad are a secondary audience. YuppTV has a Sandesh News live page, but a "Subscription is not available" notice appears there, so overseas viewers may need another route.
Ways to watch
Satellite viewers have two options. Sandesh News joined DD Free Dish on 13 June 2025 at channel 120, free-to-air in SD over GSAT-15. Airtel Digital TV carries the channel at number 586, also in SD.
Online, sandesh.com publishes Gujarati news and video. The Sandesh News app adds live updates, breaking alerts, e-paper and hyperlocal news. How the stream holds up will vary from viewer to viewer, so a quick try is the best test.
Worth keeping around?
Sandesh News is a solid pick for Gujarati news, though not the market leader. In BARC's Week 8 2023 numbers, News18 Gujarati led with 25.5% and Sandesh News held 14.6%. A free satellite slot and a newspaper-backed newsroom are the reasons to give the channel a place in your rotation. Bookmark the page for next time, and pass the link to anyone who follows Gujarati news.
