Somoy News TV, also known as Somoy TV, is a private Bengali-language news channel from Bangladesh that runs 24 hours a day. You can watch Somoy News live stream online, and the channel also broadcasts by satellite.
What Somoy News TV covers?
The channel is run by Somoy Media Limited and based in Dhaka. Test broadcasts began on 10 October 2010, and commercial broadcasting started on 17 April 2011. That makes Somoy one of the longer-running 24-hour news channels in Bangladesh.
The focus is news, current affairs and analysis. The official website splits its content into Bangladesh, international, sport, entertainment, business, technology, lifestyle and religion. These are website sections, so they don't map neatly onto the TV schedule. The channel says it has regional offices and district-level reporters, and that international stories come from Reuters, APTN and SNTV.
Who the channel suits
Somoy News TV is built for Bengali speakers who want Bangladeshi and world news in their own language. The channel says it also serves viewers outside Bangladesh, including North America, parts of Europe, the Middle East, South Africa and parts of Asia. The official page doesn't name specific countries or list any rights limits, so check that the stream plays where you live.
How to watch online?
Watching online is simple. The official site carries news articles and video, and the channel confirms you can follow Somoy TV over the internet. The about page also points to somoynews.tv.
On the production side, the channel invested in Ikegami HD production equipment in 2022, part of a planned move from SD to 1080i. That shows an upgrade effort, but it doesn't confirm what quality you'll get on every stream. Picture and loading speed vary from one viewer to the next, so a quick try is the best test.
