Based in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, Yas TV is a satellite channel showing for free a selection of highlights from the various sports channels owned by the Abu Dhabi Media group. Formerly the Abu Dhabi Sports Extra channel, it was not until 2015 that it assumed its current name. It offers a rich program of prestigious national sports such as horse and camel racing, sailing, and falconry.
Yas TV (Yas sports TV) provides coverage of the full range of equestrian competitions in the United Arab Emirates and the Gulf, whether that be racing, showjumping, or traditional Arabian events. Meanwhile, considerable air time is also given to many other famous championships around the world.
Also, this free satellite channel has contributed to the renewal of popular national sports such as falconry, which are part of the UAE’s distinctive cultural heritage, by offering exclusive reports and live broadcasts from local events.
International boat racing is another important focus of attention, with regular bulletins on a roster of water sports at local and international levels. At the same time, viewers can enjoy the equestrian endurance races for which Yas TV is known throughout the world, with live broadcasts of championships and competitions in cross country events.
With authentic Arabian pastimes such as camel racing also given a high profile, Yas TV is committed to devoting a large portion of its schedules to covering sporting fixtures in Abu Dhabi and other Gulf countries.
