CNT São Paulo is a Brazilian television station based in Americana, a city in the state of Sao Paulo. It operates on channel 52 (24 digital UHF ) and is its broadcaster of the National Central Television. CNT came up with its signal in the state after the end of its partnership with TV Gazeta, where both formed an affiliate network between 1992 and 2000. The station has already had a building as its base of operations in São Paulo, Alameda Santos. , which went on sale in early 2018.
On November 20, 1991, the then Rede OM concludes an agreement with TV Gazeta for the generation of content between the two broadcasters and, consequently, the newly launched network gains a channel in São Paulo, the 11 VHF. At the time, the two broadcasters had ten hours of programming, four reserved for OM and six for Gazeta, and in the agreement, Gazeta's programs would reach other regions of Brazil through OM relays, while in the state of São Paulo more precisely in the northwest, OM programs would arrive through Gazeta.
Until 1997, the programs Gazeta aired nationally were selected by CNT itself, following the agreement. That was when the São Paulo broadcaster stopped showing some shows of the Paraná station, such as Cadeia and CNT Jornal. In the same year, the CNT earns award the 52 channel UHF of Americana, São Paulo State. In 1998, Gazeta began to apply to the Ministry of Relay Communications throughout the state of São Paulo, even in cities where CNT already had relays. Soon after, the station of Paraná no longer holds the analog signal of the network on satellite Brasilsat B1, causing only Gazeta to assume this function.
In 1999, TV Gazeta ceases to broadcast the programming generated in Curitiba. However, programs like Family Country and Mother of Gravata, produced by CNT, but generated from São Paulo, remain in the grid. In the same year, CNT participates in public bidding to obtain the concession of the 14 UHF channel of the São Paulo capital, in which it did not emerge victoriously. In 2000, neither of the two broadcasters entered into an agreement, and the content-sharing partnership is terminated on June 5. By this time, the network already had about forty affiliated broadcasters in the country, which eventually moved to other networks. The end of the partnership, viewed in a "friendly" manner, was pointed out as the natural outlet for both growth and expansion. Of all presenters on the old network, only Ronnie Von and Gutto Moreno remain on CNT with Tie Mother and Link respectively.
Own sign in São Paulo (2000-present)
Days after the end of the partnership, CNT leases an antenna on Paulista Avenue, and on June 8, opens its new headquarters, located in a building of Alameda Santos, in the Paraíso neighborhood. The then head of the station's Communication and Marketing department, Claudio Magnavita, announces that five channels were being selected, both from the VHF and UHF bands, to see which one would reach the highest power through a transmitter that initially counted. 10 kW, tested for 30 days so that the power would then reach 60 kW, considered normal for UHF channels at the time. Claudio also announces that a 1800 m² theater had been rented at Avenida Brigadeiro Luís Antôniofor his line of shows, led by producer Nei Macedo, where he intended to produce series and a talk show, which did not materialize.
In July, CNT began testing through channel 14 UHF, which was suspended after interfering with the signal of the recently opened TV Diary , affiliated with Rede Globo in Mogi das Cruzes. In August, the Ministry of Communications temporarily grants channel 26 UHF, which is concessioned in Diadema , in the Metropolitan Region, and belongs to the Greater São Paulo Radio Educational Society. The same channel had already been used by the Legion of Good Will. However, irregularly, the Paulista Avenue transmitter, which operated at 5 kW, covered only the central region of the capital, and did not cover Diadema. The Ministry's authorization was valid until December, and was only for the broadcaster to relay its signal, without generating programming. Even so, CNT remained with channel 26 until 2012, when it moved to channel 27 UHF. During this period, the CNT also tried to reach an agreement with the then Channel 21 , which did not go forward. In 2001, CNT began operating on channel 52 UHF in Americana. In the same year, host Ronnie Von moves to Rede Mulher .
In 2014, with the 22-hour lease of the network's programming to the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God (equivalent to 83% of the grid, exceeding the 25% minimum stipulated by the Public Prosecution Service ), the São Paulo branch dismisses all its 25 professionals. , closing some departments. In January 2018, the station put up for sale the building of the state capital, located in Alameda Santos. Officials argue that there is no longer a need to maintain space as a base of operations, and that just one room in an office building would suffice. With this, the operations of the São Paulo branch now focus only on Americana.
Since it had its own channel in São Paulo, there have been few attempts by CNT to produce local programming in the city. Programs that were being planned as early as 2000, after the end of the partnership with TV Gazeta , did not get off the ground, and those that had been on the grid for some time were being phased out. Only in 2009 did CNT focus on local production in the state capital, with the Notícias & Mais program , which debuted on March 2, and was first presented by Adriana de Castro , Ana Paula Oliveira , Celso Russomano , Leão Lobo and Ron Curvelo. The program focused on general news, but also featured entertainment and soccer stories, interviews, musicals, etc. It was aired until June 6, 2014, when the station rents 22 hours of its programming to the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God and fires all its employees.
The network only resumed its activities in 2018, when it starts producing the local edition of CNT Notícias , presented by Ana Benoti, in addition to the local CNT News bulletins . His journalism team also produces reports that are broadcast nationally by CNT Jornal .
