ARD Alpha is a television channel in Germany that is part of the ARD (Arbeitsgemeinschaft der öffentlich-rechtlichen Rundfunkanstalten der Bundesrepublik Deutschland) network. ARD is a consortium of public broadcasters in Germany. ARD Alpha, formerly known as BR-alpha, is operated by Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR), one of the member broadcasters of ARD. The channel focuses on educational and cultural programming, offering a wide range of content such as documentaries, discussions, art, science, and knowledge-based programs.
ARD-alpha is a German education television channel. ARD-alpha broadcasts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, programmes from BR, as well as from ARD and Austrian broadcaster ORF. Until 29 June 2014 the channel was named BR-alpha.
