On March 1, 1967, the first newscast produced in Guayaquil by its own editors, reporters, cameramen, and drivers aired, resorting to sources and processing news with images. Until that date, only newspapers had been read in the country's television news broadcasts. It was the official birth of Ecuavisa.
From the first day, at Ecuavisa we understood that television is a means of communication that has great penetrating power, which created clear responsibilities, especially in the journalistic area.
We believe in press freedom, we cultivate it and defend it before those who want to annul it or limit it, but we also exercise it responsibly.
Our substantial contribution is the dissemination of the truth because only the truth teaches. Truth always gives us the basic knowledge to understand a situation, a problem, a fact. Ecuavisa journalists are laboratory workers to penetrate the essentials of reality, scrutinize all facets, and put on the table what the viewer must know and judge.
