The Firstlight Story, so far...

In January of 2012, Pastor David Gates of Gospel Ministries International inspired a group of dedicated volunteers to launch a nationwide Christian TV channel that would share the love of God with all of New Zealand. Within a few days, a temporary board and various volunteer teams were established to carry out the work. The name “Firstlight Broadcasting Network” was chosen as New Zealand is one of the first countries to see the light each morning.

In early March, the board established the Firstlight Charitable Trust (Incorporated) to allow those who share the same vision to partner with Firstlight through regular donations.

Firstlight is a sister organization to the already successful worldwide HCBN and Light Channel broadcast networks, run by David Gates and other volunteers around the world.

On September 17th, 2012, Firstlight began broadcasting nationally on Freeview|HD (UHF terrestrial) channel 26.

“And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.”

The Firstlight Mission

The Firstlight channel aims to share the good news of Jesus Christ into every home in New Zealand. Going into places previously untouched by God's message and connecting with those who may have never set foot inside a church. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, Firstlight will broadcast messages of hope; clear and concise explanations from God’s word that leave no room for error or compromise. Offering a place of safety and refuge where people can come to understand who God really is and be drawn into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.
